I've given your two losing groups a quick try Larry. I scored 61 with #368 and 63 with #390. Rubbish scores with the rest. Will replay the two best ones and see what happens.

Ha. I only go out for a few minutes per day to feed the birds. The cold hasn't had a chance. I'm going to have to hit the pub soon, before I start to feel really old.
Have a look at this partial. I got the 68 off of it by backtracking and introducing a KS into the tableau. I think it may be unwinnable due to the spades.

with 4 more winners (including # 390).
Now standing at 51 ( that will be 52 with Richard's # 368).
My remaining high scoring losers (> 60) are
#313,#314,and #343.

I've exhausted my ideas regardinf #314 Larry. Now I'm bored. I wouldn't mind having a stab at any of your "300's" where you scored between 40 and 60. I'm not looking for any scalps, just a reasonable challenge to see how far we can get, we few, we happy few, we band of brothers.

I'd like to join in playing Forth Thieves, but I just can't seem to get the hang of it. Maybe I'm good at some games but not at others. Do any of you have that problem. For instance, I love Tuxedo, but no one else seems to like it as much. So perhaps I'm not good at Forty Thieves because I don't like it. Maybe it's that simple.

BTW, how's the weather, Richard? We're having a winter thaw right now in the Midwest. It's 40 degrees outside. Also, we had a slight earthquake this morning which I didn't even feel. No one thinks of the Midwest as being earthquake prone, but we're actually on a fault line.

An excellent phrase Markus "invested the time". I sometimes attempt to do likewise, but I don't always succeed. Fukushima is a lesson to the entire world that nuclear generated electricity is not as safe as they had previously led us to believe. Perhaps this disaster will encourage physicists to develop better ways. Scotland currently (pun, laughter optional) leads the world with Wave Powered technology. In the near future we will be able to generate enough "green" electricity for our needs, and perhaps even export it.
I'd better explain the pun in case Google is having another day off. Current = at this time. A tidal current is also produced by oceans and rivers.

Big business views everyone as expendable pawns. The pursuit of money takes precedence over everything else. They have taken over from where the Church of Rome left off. Their empire was ruled by greed. So too are the boardrooms of multi-nationals. If you ever get the chance to see the epic film "The Kingdom of Heaven" it will leave you in no doubt that the church of that era should hang it's head in shame. The Crusaders who took Jerusalem were ordered by the Pope. They would be excommunicated unless they complied. They slaughtered every last person within that city. Ironically the forces of Saladin,(Islamic) allowed their Christian enemies free passage out of city when it became obvious to them both that the Crusaders couldn't manage to hang onto their ill gotten gains indefinitely. Watch the film with an open mind and draw your own conclusions.

Richard, you know my opinion about church and i think you know, how i will see the film, when i once will see it. Maybe i cannot see it even till the end, because while watching it, i get so much hater in me, that i cannot watch it till the end. Ok, it was in history, but documentations about nowaday (?) things, where you just shake your head (i. e. about Monsanto, ...) i often have to stop watching before the end.

Markus. There has been a lot of discussion about the nuclear plant at San Onofre around here since the Japanese disaster. The scientists beleive that they have all the right precautions in place for a quake of seven on the Richter scale. They say they have studied all of the siesmic data available and that a seven is the largest for that particular area in California. To that I say BULL. Mother Nature will do whatever she damn well pleases. The plant is roughly thirty miles from us. I am not that concerned. If we get one ( which we will at some point) as strong as the quake in Japan I will be digging us out of the rubble. At least I hope to be digging out.

It seems as if most people only want to condemn the Catholic Church for events in the past but never report about all of the good that the Church has done and still does. I don't hear any condemnation against the Muslims. Enough Catholic bashing. And don't believe everything you see in a movie. It seems all the faults of the world came about through the Church. Somehow that doesn't make sense to me. I'm sorry but I have a duty to defend my faith, and by the way the Church has apologized for the Crusades.

I didn't condemn the Catholic Church Kathy, I condemned the Church of Rome. It was the only Christian church of that era, so ALL Christians no matter what their current denomination must shoulder equal blame. In fact everyone of European extraction can be included. Our ancestors were an uneducated lot and they caused huge problems that persist to this day. They believed they were doing the right thing. History has proved them wrong.

Your BULL! would also sum up my opinion regarding your nuclear plant Mike. "Experts" have a depressing track record of getting things wrong. Put half a dozen experts in a room and all you will get is an argument. They will hold contrary opinions but each will be convinced that it's the others who are wrong.
Disturbingly they are only talking about a quake of 7 on the Richter scale. The Japanese quakes were stronger than that. Perhaps Congress will legislate that quakes above that severity become illegal. Then you can all sleep soundly in your beds at night.(...............................) Insert your own sarcastic comment in the space provided.
On a cheerier note, I took Liz and her son, plus his fiancé. and her daughter out for a bar meal last night. Great food, super prices! An old friend I'd not seen for years spotted me and came over to greet me like a long lost brother. He has written his autobiography. A thick hard back book of A4 size. He gave me it home to read, and I was astonished to see one of my poems occupying an entire page. And he spelled my name correctly!

All i say is: AGE.

Mike, you forgot four letters: S H i T. Don't be so kind not to say the hole lot in that context.
When scientists say, that the maximum is 7, then you can be sure, that it can also be 8 or 8.5. In Japan they have had another one some days ago with 7.4 !!! Did you already decide where to go? 30 miles is not much. How about Yetiland?

Giving up on the 300's now.
I make it 50 winners with an average score of 74.35.
The average is calculated using a combination of Larry's top scores plus my own.

"See if your young brain cells can compete with my old ones in winning FT #302. I've just won it in an excellent time."

Richard, what was the problem with #302? I won it the first try, without even using the undo-button. It just fell. Pure luck i think.

BTW "I've just won it in an excellent time." What was your excellent time?

Another btw "See if your young brain cells can compete with my old ones in winning FT #302."
It seems, that SOMETIMES my young brain cells can compete with your old ones.

I've started the 400+ group now. I clear my stats at the start of each group so I can't post a screenshot. It was certainly well under 2 minutes, perhaps even less that one.

My genuine time would have been somewhere in the region of 6-7 minutes. I got into a bad habit of not saving games I'd won, so now I usually stop and do it and update my manual records before moving on. After I'd done the latter I clicked on the AutoMove and completed the game. I was surprised that it only showed 9 minutes to completion.

I replayed it to solve it. This time, i needed two attempts. The first time, i made two important decisions and it fell. But i remember, i used one time the undo button to put the other 10C onto the foundation. But i am glad that i could stand your challenge.

I am playing the numbers that Larry has not solved, therefore I am deliberately playing at a slow pace, trying to avoid missing any smart moves. As you have said, sometimes we just get lucky and everything falls into place. The next time it can be a very different story.

Richard,

Just wondering if you received my e-mail on Forty Thieves 300's 400's update. If not, could you post your solutions for # 348 and # 400. # 301 and #459 were added to the solved list.

Thanks,

Larry
