Hi shock horror I just WON Idle Aces with Game 1473082624 I thought this game was impossible I thought I had blown it when the last 2 cards were the wrong way round but it reasonable easy by not paying one of the last kings when you can. down to 18 to go Bye Paul |

Hi Ken down to 17 now as I cleared Big spider, Cone ,Grounds for divorce as well as the surprise Idle aces but had to add striptease back on as i found that years ago i Won it with the unshuffled deck so I consider this to be cheating so it is back on as an unwon game. cone is a great game to win and the other spider games were because I didn't play these much so were quite easy Bye Paul

I was curious about other folk's experience with Spider and when I saw some of the outrageous claims of hundreds of wins and NO losses I almost puked. I average around 7% if I'm lucky. I would be interested in knowing how these people do it when the deck is stacked so badly against winning in most cases. Case in point: game # 1333075456 I challenge anyone to beat that game. |

Thanks for the comment, Mark. However, I think you're wrong--it's not winnable. The 1st deal has NO plays, the 2nd deal has NO plays. The rest of the deals aren't much better with the last deal having only one move. Jim |

Paul, I've been trying all day to win Idle Aces #1473082624 with no success. I'm close, but I end up with a hidden 3 behind the 2. The kings aren't the problem, it is the darn 3/2 combination. Can you give me some kind of hint that doesn't involve telling me the moves? And BTW, has anyone won Robert yet? I'm down to 14 games. Peg |

Peg the only hint I can give is and the end of the first deal the going down piles are on 4 4 8 10 and the going up piles are on 6 8 9 K so this does not tell you the moves to get to here or afterwards but if you get to this position do a snapshot I will documnent all the moves so if you are still stuck or anyone else wants them i can give them Congratulation on 14 mine is 11 what are your 14 bye and hope this helps Paul |

Paul, The 14 that have me stumped are Boudoir, Bridesmaids, British Canister, Crossroads, Eighty Thieves, Forwards and Backwards, Fourteens, German Patience, Idle Aces, Kings and Aces, Picture Patience, Queens and Jacks, Robert, and Spaces and Aces. I know there are some winning numbers for the above games, but I haven't been able to get them to work yet. Plus, I play with the King Only option so that makes some more difficult. Now, let me go see where I am on Idle Aces. Thanks! Peg |

Hi Peg 10 of yours are the same on my list as well I can help with bridesmaids 324615297 as i have it documented. two clues to start you off though do not leave the 10 where it is but move it down one line put the ten diamonds at the top and do not play the Jack spades until the diamonds reach king other wise you do not get very far Bye Paul |

Hi Peg a second clue twice in the last deal you must be able to play the red sixes on the going down piles so you may need to move a 7 each time from the up pile to the down pile. I can give you any moves for the second deal because if you have got to the same position on the first deal then the first 3 cards are 7s 10d and 9h which should all be able to play. hope this helps Paul |

Paul wrote: if you have got to the same position on the first deal then the first 3 cards are 7s 10d and 9h Sorry Paul, but those 3 cards will ALWAYS be the 1st 3 cards of the 2nd deal because they are the 1st 3 cards OF THE DECK that can't be played initially. <grin> You'd be amazed at how many variations there are AFTER those first cards! I'm still working on it. Even if I get to your snapshot position, the order of the cards left is still different. There's something I'm not seeing... yet. Peg |

Hi Polly Glad we could help with Golf and it took me 5 tries to get Peg's number I agree with you on British Canister as my best score on 492 games is 14 and i also agree that Robert is impossible without using an unshuffled deck.I think the others are still probably possible. The only one that is not on Peg's list of 14 that I have not won is Binary Star which i find very tricky and often get to 2 or 3 cards which do not go. Paul |

Hello James re Spider 13307546 I felt i had to accept your challenge as i know that everybody who said they won this game were always helpful to me and their games were always won when they said they were.I was as usual stuck on all spider games . however with the Moves I got from Yvonne (ladydeere) which took you to getting the hearts and clubs out i worked out the next 100 or so moves and the proof that the game game be won is on the attached document which takes you from the first move to the position were all cards are uncovered I hope there are no errors and many thanks again to Yvonne regards Paul

Mark, the problem I have with fourteens is not knowing where to start. Do I try to clear the middle first? Or the top/bottom rows? I know I need to be able to create a hole in the top so I can fill it with something from the bottom, but there are just so many variables! Peg |

hi peg I had Marks winning number in April and have tried it hundreds of times with no success and do not believe i can ever win it although i did get down to 4 cards once the only way I know to record a game is to not play the last card then Undo to the beginning and redo and write the moves down. and with British Canister you can beat your highest score by 2 with game 1915146880 Bye Paul |

Thanks, Paul, that did the trick! BTW, did Cara's winning number for German Patience help you (or at least get you below 30 cards left)? Ken |

Hi Ken, Here are my early conclusions of your sticklers. Not very optimistic I'm afraid. Acquaintance #803308224. This MAY be winnable. Had several attempts and my best score so far is 37. You'll already have worked out that you must refuse to take one (or more?) of the playable cards in the first deal. It will be a case of trial and error to find out which ones to ignore until their second or third appearance. -------------------------------------------------- Twenty #611691777. Doubt if I'll get anywhere with this. Critical cards buried early and look impossible to rescue. -------------------------------------------------- Cleopatra #155428353. Looking like 1-0 for the Asp. Will have more attempts though. Think Thomas forgot to put a two of clubs in the pack. That's my excuse anyway. -------------------------------------------------- Monaco #640965377. Fairly sure this is a dead duck. So few moves possible and none of them alters the top left corner which becomes more and more dodo-like. -------------------------------------------------- Richard

Hi Ken, Have reached 46 with Acquaintance now. Still think it can be cracked. No farther forward with the others though. Richard. |

Hi Ken, Think I'll give up on Acquaintance #803308224. Have been very close by different routes. Uploading todays best effort. See if you can tinker with it and get one of the jacks into play. |

Hi Ken, WELL DONE INDEED! A stubborn streak doesn't go amiss in PGS.Sometimes with games like this it's just a war of attrition. You've just got to grind it into submission. Are you familiar with the acro FNPC? It's one I've just invented. I cannot get the stupid beast to accept the change to the file extension. It's adamant I want a text file. It's accepted these files previously without any problem. PCPMT? Anyway thanks for having faith in me and congratulations for giving it the coup de gras. Richard. |

Hello again Ken, Check the times between these messages! That's how long I've been I've been engaged in a battle of wills with this PC. For anyone else who may have had problems renaming downloaded .pgs files, this is how to get your own way. Whilst the file is still in My Documents where it was downloaded to, OPEN IT. Make no changes and click on Save As. In the drop down choices under "Save As Type" choose MS DOS Format. It will then show as a PGS file. Old dogs can learn new tricks. Richard. |

Hi Ken, Been out for most of the day, but was making some progress when I came back online and saw you'd won it. Well done. Did you realise that the top four cards in the left hand column become the top row when you redeal? This is equally true with the second redeal. Makes forward planning a bit easier. Richard. |

Hi Ken, I've had a closer look at the redeals. If your left hand column had 12 cards at the time of a redeal, the first four cards would then be dealt as line one,the second four as line two, and the third four as line three. This makes it easier to manipulate the cards so that lower value cards are not blocked in with kings or queens. Hope you find this helpful. Richard. |
