So many players have trouble downloading soultions from the forum, that I have created this illustrated guide.
The photography is not very professional but if you downlaod the pictures onto your own PC, you will be able to read the instructions written on them.

When you open up a solution on the forum, you don't actually have a copy of it at that time. You are just running it on an online PC. You can easily save a copy onto your own PC, and I would advise you to do so.This means that you can undo and redo the saved game as often as you want, and learn how someone else managed to win it.
Just pick any game at random, say Accordian, and open it on your PC. Now if you look up to the top left of your screen you will see "Game". When you click on that you get a drop down menu and you can choose "Open game". Provided you have a saved game of Accordian, you just highlight it and click where it says "Open". That game will run, and you can Save it as often as you want during play, by going to top left once more and hitting "Game" followed by "Save as".
I hope I've covered everything, but please post any queries and I'll try to answer them.

Pauline, You are not trying to download it to anywhere other than into the correct place in P.G.S. Nothing else works.
If you click on the uploaded game three posts above this, it will open and you will see this in the Address Bar above all the numbers.
../18/Dutch_Sol itaire_2056442624-3827.unk
You have to PASTE this into the box which is detailed in the second last photo. It is not a download. It is a link TO a download.
These are the links to the two Penguin games that you want, so just start from here.

../18/Penguin_9 18809856_Pauline-4293.txt
../18/Penguin_1 077321344_Pauline_2-4296.txt

Paste one into the correct place and it will open the game on a remote computer (provided you remain online). It will open itself and run the game on your PC. You can save it after that as detailed in the final illustration..

I use a simple free download manager called "Free Download manager" haha. It allows you to control your download and to where. Thereby it is maintained in a file. I had to change the extention back from .unk to .pgs is all in my test.

I pasted the URL into the open game of Dutch
Solitaire. the game imediately ran to the
winning completion. Bit I still don't get it.
How does that help me understand how to play
the Penguin games.
I guess I am a real dummy.
Thanks for your time.

You're not a dummy Pauline. We all had similar problems.Don't let it bother you.
As Mike pointed out, and as it also says in the Pictorial Guide, once you can get a game to run on your PC, you can save it and undo and redo til your heart's content. To save a game of Penguin, look up to the top left of that screen and you'll see "Game". Click and that and hit "Save as" on the menu that drops down.
If you got the Dutch Solitaire game to work, you can get any of them to do the same. Just paste in the link for whatever game you're trying to download. To download a Penguin you must have Penguin open on your PC just as you normally would.

Both URL's are working fine on both of my PC's. One running Windows XP and the other Vista. Don't know why anyone else should be any different. Perhaps one of the other guys will confirm that they are working on theirs too.

When you save a game it will open exactly where you saved it. It has no memory of anything that may have happened after that point. If I gave you $1000 that I'd saved and you only banked $100 of it, it wouldn't matter how often you looked in your account, it would still just have $100 in it.

Hi Pauline. Remember to leave the Goodsol, Is It Winnable, forum open. Then go back to PGS. Use the tab at the bottom of the screen. Go to the game you cut the link from. Then use the "Open Game" button. Then paste in the link.

OK Pauline. We'll start from scratch. You're gonna kick yourself when you see how easy this is.
1/. Open up Pretty Good Solitaire as normal.
2/. Open Penguin as you normally do.
3/. The last game of Penguin you were playing will be on your screen, with cards dealt out and everything.
4/. Look up to the top left of that screen.
5/. Along the top you will see "Penguin,(Pauline)"
6/. Just beneath that you have "Game" "Options" "Internet" and "Help"
7/. Click the one that says "Game"
8/. A small menu will drop down at the top left of screen but you will still see part of the Penguin game beneath this.
9/. In this little menu, select "Open game" (6th from the top).
10/.Click it and a small window will appear.
11/. At the bottom there will be one box called "File name"
12/. This is where you have to paste the URL you want.
13/. Once you've pasted it in there, click on "Open" just to the right.
14/. Depending on your connection speed etc, this window will close and the online game will run on your PC, (replacing the Penguin game that was there previously).
15/. Don't move any of those cards.
16/. Go back up to the top of your screen and click "Game" again.
17/. In the menu that appears, select "Save as".
18/. It will choose the correct name for you and then you hit the "Save" button. You now have your own hard copy of this particular game that you can open at any time you want.
19/. Obviously it is a Penguin game, so in order to open it you must have Penguin open on your screen.
20/. Back up to the top left and hit "Game"
21/. Select "Open game" in the menu, and click the "Open" button.
22/. You will reach a point when you will have more that one saved Penguin in that window, so at that time you just highlight the one you want before you click the "Open" button.

It is ESSENTIAL that you remain online when you're pasting in the URL, and until you've saved it within P.G.S. itself. Saving it to your desktop or anywhere else will just make it more difficult for you to put it into the correct program yourself. That's how you get "invalid file" messages.

Thanks Richard for all the help you have given me. At the top of my game it says Penguin(Polly).
Duh, I am sorry I did not mention this. I don't if that makes any difference.
I printed your instructions so I would have
them next to the computer to refesh my memory.
Mike do not make fun of an old lady.

Pauline, there is no possible way I could know what you have at the top of your page. I just assumed you'd be running your games under Pauline as your user-name. I just wanted to ensure that you had Penguin open at the correct place. Mine says Penguin (Richard) and Mike's probably says Penguin (DuffGolfer).
You were on the correct page to get the instructions to work, so feel free to try it. You can't cause any problems if you don't do it right. It just won't work. Nothing more sinister than that.
Richard.

Remember. When you are in the Penquin game. Go to the top left. There are some choices. Click on "Game" then "Open Game" then right click in the box where it says "File name" the game you "cut" from the forum will paste into the space. The left click on "open".

OK I saved a game but it did not run to the
end like the Dutch solitaire game I saved
If I have Penguin with another game on it and
click game then "open game" to get the saved
game the game that was on is considered lost.
This is really making my stats low!

Maybe the problem is that Richard and I do this a little differently. I right click on the URL. That's the file name of the saved game. I get the option to "Copy shortcut" Then when you get to "Open game" you right click in the space and Paste the file in. Then open it.

Pauline, when you open a saved game, the game that was on your screen just vanishes like it never existed. It does NOT show up on your stats as a loss. It doesn't show up at all. It's just gone. It's history.
