Is it winnable? Any help would be appreciated on this one.

Phew! When I saw the difficulty rating for American Toad I was expecting a walk in the park. What I will say is that if you play it the conventional way, I think it's unwinnable. I had a few attempts without making any real difference. When I get a bit more time I am going to try taking one or two threes from the stock down into the tableau to use them for building, rather than put them onto the foundations as you normally would. It may not work but it's worth a try. I've used this trick with other games.

Thanks for that. At least I know it isn't me. I have tried some different techniques but it is beating me at the moment. Will also try your idea.

I've got a top score of 57 at the moment. Will try to rearrange things as I can see a possibility of an improvement. One brick at a time.

Likewise - I can get 57 but no further than that - grrrr. I'm glad you are on the case as well.

I'm giving up on it now too. 57 seems to be as high as it wants to go.

Frances - I have worked through from game #1 and this is the first game I haven't been able to win.
Richard - thanks for your help - at least I know it isn't me now. Ah well - there goes my 100%.

Hi Linda, If every game was winnable there would be liitle point in playing it. It's amazing that even the simplest of games eventually throws in a little cracker that refuses to oblige.Just start again at 286 and see if you can get a longer straight run before you hit the next unwinnable one. We'll expect to hear from you in about 300 games time.

Hee hee! Have already started at #286 and not wiped my stats! How many do I have to play for this glitch to eventually be negligible - ie. back to 100 percent? 10,000 games?

Linda--would you like the two winning numbers or would you rather figure out by yourself without any help? That's usually the way I play it until a game becomes impossible (such as The Plot or Thirteen Packs)----

Well done Ken. I have given up on it now. As a matter of interest #289 also beat me - I think I got 71 for that.

Thanks for the offer Frances but I am like you and working through gradually. It is a relatively easy game but occasionally throws in these odd games that are difficult.

Hi Linda--OK--I can appreciate that--I really do like to work through the games myself. But if anyone want two winning numbers, I have them--as I said, I played it twice and won it twice.

Maybe Mike does a better job when he's dizzy. Too bad he can't play golf when he has one of his spells.

That was very difficult in my opinion.

Will post the solution if Mike throws in the towel.

I was just wanting your opinion on it Mike. I actually thought it was unwinnable for quite some time. Give it a crack later on if you get time and tell me what you made of it.

Got it. Three tries. I had trouble getting it into my head not to play the KC and figure a way to keep a spot for the 10D. Knowing it was a winner helped.

The KC just didnt ring home at any time for me, I knew the 10D was the key. Nice job. After holding back the king it was a breeze.

Must be getting old....

You could be right this time Paul. I can crank it up to 62 but the waste is excessive by that time. I'll play it some more. You never know. I've saved the 62 position.
