Here is a quick and easy way to use the above solution. Save the downloaded file to somewhere you can find it. Documents or Desktop is fine.

Now click where is says "Save".

Finally locate the downloaded file on your PC (wherever you saved it to). Click on it and select "Open". My solution should now run on your PC and replace the game you were stuck with, and record it as a win PROVIDED YOU DO THE LAST FEW MOVES YOURSELF.

Oh dear! I can't SAVE TARGET AS. I'm running Vista so I can only SAVE LINK AS. I don't know if this makes a difference but I've Saved Link As a .pgs file but when I try to open it, I receive following error message:
"Unable to load card set (gdcard.cards)".

Pretty Good Solitaire program itself loads fine but if I try to load the saved downloaded solution from within PGS (FILE > OPEN), it opens the game at the beginning not the end.

Help! Am I doing something stupid?

A Happy New Year to you too Sue.
I'm also running Vista Sue, so what I'm seeing is what you should be seeing. Mind you, nothing surprises me with Vista. I've had to come up with this new method of opening uploaded games very recently after some automatic update messed up the original method. So NO, I doubt if you're doing anything stupid. I also got that error message when I was messing around trying to find an alternative route.
Before we go off on another tangent altogether, could you please confirm that you did a single RIGHT click on the solution I posted "December 28, 2008 - 3:02 pm:"?
Also, when you reply to this post, could you please try and paste in the link you saved so that we can establish exactly where we are?
We WILL get there eventually. Don't give up.

Hi Richard, What time zone are you on? Do you ever sleep?

I confirm I only gave single R-click & my only option is to Save Link As...
(My system's just done an auto update so maybe that's changed things - I'm sure I used to have Save Target As ...).

Attached is the file I Download/Saved:
application/octet-streamFile my system saved
Midshipman_2129417087_tricky-5420.pgs (6.2 k)

PS I won't give up. Thkx for your help.

Hi Sue, I live in Aberdeenshire,Scotland. It will be about 2pm here by the time I've posted this. I AM a bit of a nightowl too though. About 1am is fairly normal for me.
I just got the same error message but I've just sussed out how you can do it. I'll do another couple of screenshots and get back to you pdq. You're practically there now though.

Firstly go to Pretty Good Solitaire and open up Midshipman. Your partially complete game should then appear on your screen.
Go up to the top left of the screen and click where it says "Game" and you'll get a pop down menu.

Now my game should run on you PC, erasing the part you were stuck on, and replacing it totally. It will record as a win after you complete the few moves I left.

Ah! You're too clever! I knew it was the six hearts causing problem but couldn't work out how to play it. Thkx so much. I'll go back with UNDO and look see how you did it.
I'm in South Africa but I'm actually English. We're two hours ahead of you at present - but not so cold! It's sunny here.
Have a gr8 evening and many, many thkx again.

You're welcome Sue. I enjoy playing the games that other players are having trouble with. I let you/them filter out the chaff and then feast on the cream. Ha!
Thanks for being the guinea pig for the latest method of accessing uploaded games. We got there without too much bother. Well done.
