How about this for a remarkable coincidence? Liz has been playing General's Patience without success for quite some time. I came into the forum to get a winning number for her. We both played it several times without winning, so I came back here to download the solution for her. It turns out that I had misread General and we had been trying to win a number for German Patience. I hope I get my new glasses soon!
Now I've gone and WON it in General's Patience too. Try 1447477760 and let me know how you get on. It's not easy.

1447477760. How do you all do it. Isn't this just like a couple of other games? Anyway I don't get anywhere with it. Hope I do better with the new housekeeper I hired for later this week.

We both have a PC Ken.
BTW, her foot has always been on.

You'd better take care with the new housekeeper Mike. You don't want to hurt your back. Anyway, now that I think about it, aren't you the housekeeper?

I now have solutions for the following games. The middle one has been mentioned in the forum previously, but the others are new.

Glad you've managed to get a housekeeper to give you a hand Mike. Get a professional in.

Kathy, I see your name high in the General's Patience stats. What was the game that you won?

It was that universal number that you can win most games with -- 2147483647. That was back in
December 2009. I don't use that number anymore, but at the time I had just learned about it, and I wanted to win at least one game. Imagine my surprise that that one game put me in 2nd place.

My apologies Ken. I meant to add a footnote. Ha! She is still "off work". She no longer gets any pay, nor any benefits from the government. Luckily she has a couple of pensions. When the doctor finally gives his approval she will officially stop working. Her foot troubles her if she does a bit of walking or she stands in one place for too long. I help her out a great deal by getting her to sit in pub5. I'm good like that.
The neighbour's fence is getting demolished tomorrow! Who's the daddy?

If the win rate is less than 1%, you must have found a secret strategy. Can you share it with us. I'd like to give it a try. So far, I've had no luck with your winners, although I haven't tried them all.

It's no secret strategy Kathy. It's just dogged determination. The only thing you can do to improve the odds of winning is to take great care about what you accept into the tableau. You are not forced to play cards up onto the foundations. You have to choose the right time to do so so that you don't land up with a tableau full of cards that are of little use.
I am letting everyone know which numbers I have won. That's half the battle. I have to play a considerable number before I find any.

I wasn't aware there was an issue Ken! I just thought that you would be the most likely candidate to solve my General's Patience numbers. Nobody else seems to be interested, (except Markus. But he doesn't have it at home). I know you are good with the most difficult ones that people post. Finding winners is very difficult so I'd appreciate any numbers that you or anyone else may have.

A misunderstanding Ken. No harm done.
Just because you know the games are winnable doesn't mean that just anyone will win them. You have obviously sussed out the best tactics to use. There are some moves that many players wouldn't think of.
I hope that you will take a shine to G's P too. It would be nice if we got some more winning numbers from other players. But how likely is that?

A sheaf was a tied bundle of hay. Four or five of these were stood together in a field to dry in a pyramid shape. Those were called the stooks. Once they were dry they were assembled into haystacks.

Your number 794969728 looks winnable Ken. I got 53 on my first attempt. The mistake I made was not putting an 8D into the tableau when I had the chance. You need to have all the diamonds ready and available to move the QD when it gets exposed.

It seems pretty likely that we are going off on our travels tomorrow. Going back to Orkney if the weather looks like it will be kind.

It must be a loser Ken. You can't get the 7C in the reserve shifted until you get a 3C out, and that's about 40 down in the deal. By that time you have to have the 3,4,5 and 6C into the tableau. You also need all the diamonds from 3 to king in the tableau too before you can get the AD moved as the second card in the reserve. It's just not going to happen I don't think.

Speaking of General's Patience, I noticed that the top scorer is Ken from Mandarin, FL. Did you move from Jacksonville, Ken, or do we have ANOTHER Ken in our midst?

P.S. Where IS Mandarin? I have never heard of it, though I do like their oranges!

I've just had another look at the stats page. I thought you were #2 there Kathy. What happened?

I cleared my stats because I felt guilty I had won with the "universal number", and then I couldn't win one game on my own, even all those you said were winnable.

I didn't even know they had historic terms for lesbians. I've never heard the word "Jack" in that context. The only one I've ever heard is "Butch." Ugh, that's an ugly word isn't it?

I'll admit that Jack was a new one to me too.

Butch may be ugly but it's better than dyke I think.
