I'm going to answer questions about Action Solitaire as I get them by email here as many people probably have the same questions.

-----------------
Q. Can you turn off the timer in Action Solitaire?

A. The timer is pretty important to the game. However, yes, you can turn it off. If you go to the main screen (where you see the names of the games), go to the Options menu and check "Practice Mode". In Practice Mode, the rounds do not end when the time bonus is zero (you can continue as long as you like), but also your scores will not count in the statistics. Practice Mode is a way of learning how to play the game without the pressure of the clock.
