Ok, me again. I'm stuck on Penguin 1452. Markus, is this the one in the first 2500 that is unwinnable?

Thanks!

CarolAnn, Penguin 1452 is winnable. If you need help, I'll try to remember how to post the solution or perhaps give you a hint, but I think you can solve it now that you know it is winnable.

No, Carol Ann, it is not that number. Tell me, when you need the solution.

Good Morning, Kathy and Markus. No, Kathy, I don't have a Mac. And yes, I will keep going on 1452. As you said about a previous game, I think I am stuck on certain beginning patterns and can't get past them. I'm taking a short hiatus and then will try again, hopefully with fresh insights.

Have a great week, all!

HA-HA! I got it! Ok, an hour isn't much of a hiatus, but hey, it worked! On to the next one...

Yes, Carol Ann, #1658 is winnable.

BTW you opened a thread in a thread. Just post your Penguin problem games here in a row. When the thread is getting to big, then we will open a new one, but we are far from that. That's also why i answered here.

Getting the correct opening sequence is the major problem with this one CarolAnn.
Find your way to here and your options are so limited that you will win it eventually.

Thanks yet again, Markus and Richard. I DID finally get it. I'm sure I've tried that opening sequence before, but there are two plays involving the 9H and aD that I think I've been reversing--or something like that! Will let you know when I get to 2500. So far I haven't hit the unwinnable one.

Another Penguin question: #2002 winnable? I've given it a week and a hiatus--still can't do it.

BTW, I've been doing some 40 Thieves and Thieves of Egypt. Not bad games :-)

Thanks again, all.

It's me, the Penguin addict. Got through 2500, and am now playing random Penguins. I've been stuck on 2127733887 for over a week. I'm thinking it must be unwinnable. Richard? Markus? Any luck? Thanks!

It's winnable CaronAnn but spotting the best opening sequence escaped me for a bit. See if you can get to the screenshot position.

I really do play other solitaires besides this, but for some reason Penguin has captured me and I am driven to play on and on. another stumper, though:Penguin 565674560 - is it winnable?

Had time for a quick look at your game number. Not easy. First try: got only 6 points. There are less possibilities in building piles of suite. The 8s are blocking a lot. Will have time for another overlook later.

Thanks, Markus. I've scored up to 8 once, but as you say, the eights block everything. I keep thinking there is one little move I'm overlooking--just can't find it!

Best so far: 8 points (9, 10, J H, 9 C, 9, 10, J S, 9 D)

Let`s see, what Richard is saying, but it don't look good.

I can get 10..... 9D plus 10 and J of the other suits. This was one cell away from being winnable at this position. Very little time just now.

I doubt if we will manage to win this one. Column 2 is killing me. Every time I manage to get things moving I land up needing a card from that column. Also the 2 and 3 of diamonds that cover the QH is a major problem.

CarolAnn,
"Snap!" just comes from the children's card game of the same name. When two things are identical you shout that out. Markus got the same as me, a score of 10, "Snap!"
I doubt if we will improve on 10 but I'll let you know if/when I've given up.

Thanks, Richard. I sorta thought, too, but was hoping you might have better results. Actually, I never got as high as 10. I think my best score was 8.

Well, on to the next game :-)
