Quite similar Larry. I think I missed one that you got, but you have others that you have still to win.

Richard,

Nicely done, you added three (up to 41/100) since
your last post in December. I have found some winners after letting the loser pile “ripen” a while.

The ones I missed seem fairly straightforward once you know they are solvable.

Thanks,

Larry

Larry, I am not playing very often these days, but it's a great game to keep popping back to and retrying your best scoring losers.

Richard, still making scads of money off of your work at home program? Is that why you're not playing PGS?

Ha! If only that was true Ken. I made one typo and lost a packet. If you are going to make typos you should ensure it is not with a decimal point. OUCH!

Sorry Larry, I can't find it. Either I didn't save it or I took it out of the correct folder and emailed it to someone.
My philosophy has always been if I can win a game once I can win it again. I'll replay it this evening when I'll have more time.

Richard,

That philosophy holds true in most cases, but on the occassion of stumbling across the fluke sequence that allows a solve, a saved game comes in handy.

Larry, With Vista, the only method I've come up with for uploading solutions to the forum or for emailing them to people is to remove the files from the correct folder. I have a bad habit of deleting them a day or two later.
I had a quick attempt at #166 earlier and came quite close, but there seems to be an almost endless supply of alternative moves available. I'll get back to it later and see if I get lucky.

Larry, I had several attempts at #166 but haven't cracked it again. It is obviously a difficult one so I am surprised that I don't have it saved. Perhaps I may have emailed it to either Ken or Mike. Could you please check that guys.

Sorry I don't have it and the list of winners that you initially sent me didn't have that as winnable.

Thanks Ken. It wasn't on my original list, but it was added in the same fill colour as 171 and 175 so it must have been approximately the same time.
It's irritating, but if we all pit our wits against it it will just have to crack again. It's bugging me already though.

Richard,

If you have your highest scoring partial saved,
perhaps I could glean a clue.

I have saved nothing so far Larry. I keep getting scores in the high 40's and low 50's. I've been trying introducing spades and daimonds into the empty column that you can get very early in the game. I also had a go at the clubs but that is the least likely option. Another ploy I am trying regards the 3D. I leave the first one in the tableau and accept the second one. I am racking my brains trying to figure out what I may have done. Your observation about fluking a winning combination is becoming more and more like the only way it can be won. I am very sure it wasn't as the result of a typo that I recorded it as a win. I'll keep trying. If I get a reasonable partial I will upload it for you.

This partial shows some promise Larry. Like other variants that I try it lands up with the same result. In this example the 10S is the most obvious looking duplicate that you needn't accept when It's offered. Ignoring it leads to a problem with the spades however. I'm out of ideas at the minute.

I got 55 with this effort Larry. From the finished line-up you can easily recognize the cards that would make a big difference, but getting them into the tableau without mucking something else up is the challenge.

Richard,

That's the same position I reached, with a slightly different sequence. I'll try some new approaches later.
