Yes, I would like some hints, with the kings on the top, and the Ace of hearts on the very bottom, it is tough!

Hi
Not mark this time

again this is winnable get the 2nd and 8th column to 1 card in each and 8th will soon empty and use this to keep making spaces until col 1 can be cleared
The last columns i cleared the upside down cards were 4 5 7 and 9 and the last ace is in the 9th column
i can give you more clues if stuck

Can you believe Stuart Browning's stats of 2143 games in a row w/o a loss? And here I was patting myself on the back for winning 90 games in a row w/o a loss. I guess I have a ways to go!

Paul, I never should have looked at this thread. Now I have to win this game or my perfect record for Midshipman goes out the window! My first question is: how do you get the 2H out of the deck? Is there a way to get it out right away? Or do you have to go back and dig it out after you have cleared spaces in the tableau?

In reference to the stats for Stuart Browning's 2143 games in a row without a loss. Didn't I read in one of the posts about being able to go into the files and delete any losses, to improve your stats. That's why when my stats are posted, I'm proud of them because they are all honest.

For Ken Millar,
In your midshipman game it's important not to build too many cards onto the king in the first column, as vital aces are beneath. I built down to the ten only. Also you must ensure that a three of spades is in the tableau, so don't bury both of them in the waste. I didn't rescue the other one until I had just four cards left in the stock, with a waste of 31.
There must be several ways of winning this though.

Hi Tarsha,
This is the fifth time you've posted this in three days. Once is plenty. The regulars in the forum click on "last day" or "last week" down at the bottom left of the screen. We can see all the messages that have been posted. Generally if you get little or no response it's because nobody has managed to win it, not because nobody has seen it. I'm convinced your game can't be won. I've tried EVERY possible combination in the two empty cells, and it's not possible to get very far before you run out of moves. Only 80% of this particular game are winnable. You just have to move on. Sorry.

Hi Sir Ken, I just knew you'e be working on some brain-stormer. This is a very difficult game but I'm hopeful that we'll be able to beat it. I've spent about 40 minutes on it tonight, and can get all the cards uncovered with two clear columns. But it's not been sufficient to peel back the waste pile. I'll be working on it again tomorrow. If you manage to crack it first, please don't forget to save it. May stop me kicking the cat.

Hi both, I think we may have bitten off more than we can chew with this one. I've been at it for about an hour so far today. What is killing it is the threes of clubs and the threes of diamonds. These lie 9th, 10th, 14th, and 16th in the stock.
I can get the clubs or the diamonds into play early on, but never both of those suits. This results in serious blockages later on in the game.
The best score I've managed is 38. Posting how you can get the 3C into play. See if you can contrive to get a 3D into the tableau after this.
The alternative of getting the 3D into play first means that you've buried the clubs way too early to get back to them.

Have made some progress. Here we have both the threes into play with a waste of just 7. I can get this to a score of 51 and feel that one smart move could be all that's required to get further.

Hi Ken,
I've spent quite some time on your Black game and a breakthrough is proving very elusive. Today's upload is the best I've managed so far, and I'm going to see if I can undo it to the point where I can lose one of the nines without causing any damage to what follows. Have a bash at this yourself.

Well I cant belive it but I got it!!!
Before I give it to you....what I had to do was forget about all those threes and fives. I decided I had to think in reverse. I worked on getting as many queens and tens in play and then built complete runs on the board so the nines could be dealt with.

By far the besr Midshipman Ive seen! Ranks right in there with other harder games.

K2! We were beginning to think that we'd need to call in Mountain Rescue. You've been away a LONG time, and you begrudge me another miserable nine days. And we're doing it all for you! We've got to go and find a certain little island you mentioned some time ago, and find out if it would be an acceptable place for you to emigrate to. Contrary to popular American public opinion it is not possible to drive to Scotland. You'd be better off taking the train.
We're off down to Dumfries & Galloway to catch some wild Haggis. We want to put them in our garden to help keep down the slugs.
You'll have noticed that I've also bought another PC. We've not had our laptop very long, and I've not really got to grips with Windows XP, yet here I am with Vista. Ken Blackwell reckons it will be "fun", but I think it may result in a further holiday, after I burst a blood vessel. I've decided to leave it in the box until I get back, and then I think it would be a wise decision to get our local IT guy to set it up for me. I'm too old for aggro.
