I've been "away" from Solitaire for a year or so (moved to Florida!) and now that I'm back, I am STILL stumped with British Canister. Has anyone come up with a winning number yet?

Paul
Thank you for trying to win the eight off game. I was afraid of what your answer would be. I have played over 5,000 eight off games one time and hit the wrong button and lost one game, another time over 3,000, and lots more and ended up with impossible games. I had almost 3,000 this time. Is it better to hit next game or new game to try and get past the losers? I would like a suggestion. Thanks in advance.

Jane

Hello Jane
I would hit the new game and have a look at it and if you did not like the look of it do not make a move and click new game again then it does not count as a lost game although it will if you make a move
so if all the aces and twos are buried deeply it may be an impossible game and best avoided
it is not known which numbers are impossible to win though as others could be impossible but not obviously so by looking at it

regards Paul

Thanks Ken, I'll see how I get on using those numbers, but with Fourteens in particular there are so many possibilities that I'm not optimistic.
Will persevere with the other "banes" and try to grind them into submission.
All the best,
Richard.

Hi Jane,
Have had numerous tries at your game. Closest attempt was just one card away from solution. Am posting the game in the hope that either you or Paul can go one better.

Hi Jane,
After battling with your problem game for hours, I now believe it is impossible to shift the clubs to access the ace required to win the game.
Sorry,
Richard.
(I'd be delighted to be proved wrong).
