I've been trying for some time to improve on your Picture Patience game Ken, but I can't. It's quite magnificent. You must have put a LOT of work into that and it's possible it may never be beaten.
Have you gone into hiding? We've not heard from you for a long time.

Hi Maria, Happy New Year to you.
No, Ken did not win it but the game he posted above is as near as we're ever likely to get. It's a masterpiece.

Happy New Year to you, too, Richard--we've been so busy getting ready for the move that I haven't been on here much--I'm trying to "catch up" to what has been going on.

I thought someone found a way to win PP--and BTW, for some reason, I can't open that link that Ken posted--

Hi Maria, Since I got Vista these links are taking much longer to function, but they connect after a minute or two. It may also have something to do with my anti virus. The link does work.

I'm sure the link does work--it's probably my anti-virus program too. We don't have Vista yet (we'll probably get it with the new lap-top).

But it won't open so I will have to keep struggling with Picture Patience--

WELL DONE KEN. I've not played any of the unwinnables for ages. Too much like masochism.
Sorry to take the wind out of your sails but Egil from Norway has won it twice. He was also the first man on the moon on a spaceship he built himself out of recycled corn flakes boxes.
I'll give your number a go soon, but you must definitely have the honour of posting the first GENUINE win.

This is the one of the hardest that seems at least to take thought. Should be easy for you since you know your head isnt taking a pounding just for fun.

My technique doesn't seem to be up to the task. I'm never sure which of the playable cards I should be taking and which I should be ignoring. I just get irritated when I play it. I'm perfectly happy to let you take ALL of the glory for winning this game.
It's not worth a gold medal though. Platinum would be more appropriate.

Well,

I played this particular game enough times that I became intimate with the location in play of each card. As with most very very haed games you begin to get a feel if it seems winnable. Im surprised you didnt get into this one I got the feeling it had to be winnable right off.

Season's greetings Maria. The solution that Ken Blackwell posted just above this shows you exactly how to win it. As it's unique, there is no better method. It would be well nigh impossible to write it out in full as it's so complex. I may have a go at some point however, but it may be a while.

OK Maria. Here are instructions for winning Ken's game 1057621632. I hope you appreciate just how long it took to write all this out. It is important that playable cards are not played onto the foundations until the correct card is available to take it's place.

Ignore 3C,JC. Move KC to foundations so that 5H enters tableau.
Ignore 6C,2S.In future just ignore any cards that are not actually named.
Move AH to foundations so 8H enters tableau.
KH to foundations...

Thanks, Richard--I'm sorry I didn't answer right away--the system was down here. I'll try this. I know it seems like cheating but this game is so (practically) impossible----I appreciate the help.
Thanks again----

I've not played that for a long time. What stats I had are on our previous computer which no longer works. I know that I have won it but no idea how often. There are so many games which I prefer anyway, so I doubt if I'll be going back there. If my memory serves me I think Ken Blackwell used to good at it.

I won it 26 times I think. My lead is misleading I admit. I won many on other peoples post telling me they were winnable and some from another computer.

I did win them all would have more losses tho.

It doesn't matter if you found winnable numbers in the posts Ken. You still have to win them yourself and that can be very tricky as you know.
