Why would anyone go back to England when they have been to Scotland. The English think they are the only people who have money. Just trying to think of Richards response. Guess the person forgot to get Euros. Or was this posted before Euros?

Oh dear! It used to be common practise that English businesses charged a percentage if you offered Scottish banknotes, (and presumably Irish ones too). More and more frequently they found that they were on the receiving end of the useful Scottish advice "Stick it!" and this became a thing of the past. Granted, the rest of the article is fairly accurate, but should second class citizens not be used to having their second class currency and their trustworthiness questioned? It may be a coincidence but the "commission" that was charged for accepting our currency disappeared around the same time as the billions of pounds worth of oil revenue started flowing into the treasury. Scotland could have been an extremely rich country. Just before I close this can of worms, the following adventuires are true.
1/. A long time ago we ate in a Chinese resturant in Harrogate (posh!) and the staff refused to accept English banknotes when they knew we also had Scottish ones. They were delighted, so much so that they got us to exchange ALL of our Scottish notes before we left.
2/. We regularly walked out of bars in England leaving six or eight pints on the counter when they pulled the "commission" stunt. Football supporters used to delight in doing this. Many of these pints would have contained somewhat less by that time.
3/. I spent a couple of days in Aberdeen bars attempting to pay with a Bank of Ulster tenner. It got refused time and time again. I pointed out that they were actually breaking the law. When they used the excuse that they did not accept Irish currency, I pointed out that I was drinking Irish 8eer, (Guinness). I was quite annoyed when one bar eventually accepted it without as much as a comment!
That's your can of worms closed now Ken. It's time your parents came back to keep you in line.
And Mike, the UK still has Pounds as its currency, but it is supposed to be illegal to refuse Euros. I've got a few Euros somewhere!! I may test that out. Thanks Mike!!

Speaking of money, I actually might have considered a trip to Scotland this summer if the dollar didn't suck so bad! I hear that there is a movement afoot to peg some international markets to the euro instead of the dollar.

Yes Ken, the dollar rate sucks against the pound right now, but the Euro has been a disaster at times too. Our Pound is as good as anything. Also you would probably find that UK prices are much higher than you'd pay in USA. Petrol/gas is currently about $2.30 per LITRE. A 8eer is about $4.50 a pint. Ironic that 8eer is over 4X as expensive as fuel. Hotels and B&B prices are steep. I'd give it a miss meantime.

I think I have a couple of pounds sitting around here. And I don't mean my weight. I usually came back from my travels with some currency left from the countries I visisted. It looks like it will be at least another two years before the dollar comes back. We will just have to wait it out. So Richard. Don't expect a visit anytime soon.

I visited your website though Mike. "Geezerbutler". No wonder you kept that quiet. I also came across this picture of you crossing the road.
You could be right about the frustration factor with Fair Lucy. Often you get very close to the solution and find your path blocked.

442588065 is my final contribution to this game. I'm with Mike. It can be extremely frustrating.
I'm fond of Super Challenge Freecell and similar games where all the cards are face up. You can use logic to unscramble them. There is no luck factor other than turning up numbers that are winnable.
How anyone can win over 200 consecutive games ot Fair Lucy is beyond me. "Where eagles dare" indeed.

Same conclusion I reached Ken. I could take it t 27 by ignoring the fact that the 4S was covering the 3S. Freeing the 3S earlier just made other problems with the low cards of the other suits.

There are conflicts which I can't resolve, always concerning the nines and tens. If the 7C had not been under the 8C I think I'd have won it. Not sure about my highest score as I don't usually bother too much with them. Probably in the high 20's. I doubt if I did as well as you Ken. Post your partial if you saved it.
