As you see in my commentary (seems to be winnable), i have had the right thought, but i didn't so long find the tricky way. O.k. Will see how long it will take now, knowing that it is really winnable.

Hope you have had some fine holidays.

Good luck Markus. It is good game. Not easy.

We enjoyed our holidays, thank you. In fact we are getting ready to go away again quite soon. Liz is to blame. (She will tell you that I am to blame). Ha!

Richard, I have the perfect solution for all concerned. Since you and Liz are away A LOT and since I'm soon to be unemployed, how about you hire me as a housesitter to protect your house from all those nasty neighbors you keep complaining about. You wouldn't even have to pay but a small stipend for food and the occasional trip to the pub. Should I buy my one-way t!cket to Scotland anon?

Alas mon ami life is never that simple. We've had more than one similar offer from the in-laws/outlaws, including a pregnant one! We unfurnished the spare room and filled it with plants and junk, and this tactic is working meantime. Besides, I have it on good authority that you look much better from a distance..........or was that me they were referring to?

Ken,Why don't you invite Mike to come and stay at yours. You could go into business together. Set up a Dog Walking service. Mike will teach you the ropes. He's an expert in that field. He'd also be an asset around the house. Debbie has got him really well trained.

Hi Richard,

i was glad to see, that your first attempt leeds you to the same picture, where i got stuck.
Thanks for the 2. picture. That had been the most important. After that, it was easy. But to get there, it was really tricky. You have to do some moves, which seems at first silly, but in the end ...

Got the next problems on ST and STH, but at time i am not on my mac and i dont remember, what games.

Maybe it had been ST '321 (Best score was 7).
But i dont remember STH. It had been some of the next.

Now i have to do some work. ;-(

It had been ST #321 (best score 1) and
STH #67 (best score 6, i remember, that i reeched one time 7).

The first seems to be unwinnable, but it could be one tricky move ...
The second the same, but with winnable.

That' s pretty good Solitaire as you know, and it is much more frustrating, when someone can do a game, which for oneself seems to be unwinnable. So i am glad to here, you also can't do it and i don't have to take a frustration-drink. Nevertheless, cheereo Mr. Mechen.

I am in the happy position where I can take a drink any time I want to. I have lots of beers in the house that I very rarely touch.I land up giving it to workmen etc. I could quite easily go to the pub every day if I wanted to, but more often than not I don't bother. Now when we are on holiday!!!!.....that's an entirely different matter! Roll on friday!

This time only one problem:

ST #427 it seems a little bit like winnable, but so long: 6
Every try leeds to an deathend.

But i have some nice winnable STH, which are a little be tricky. They are not for hours, but in my opinion nice ones, where you can have a drink beside.

STH #76 and #81.

STH #82 i cannot say, but it looks like an harder one.

STH #82 is looking very doubtful.

Acquaintance:- It wouldn't be fair to other players Markus if I told you which games I'd not won. What I will say is that if you persist with each game for long enough I believe that it may be possible to win them all. Sometimes we think they are unwinnable and give up. At other times we get bored and just move on.

as you see, my questionmarks had been right. I am glad to see, that #756 is also unwinnable for you, o.k. you got 6, i will try to get it, maybe more.

With STH #99 i had always the feeling, that it is winnable, but i got stuck always on the same point.

Sometimes i think, i had to know it is winnable, because than i try things, which i earlier did not try, don't ask why. Thanks for the information and i hope it wasn't to easy for you and i did not waiste your time. (How many cups of tee or bottles??)

Hi Markus,
I NEVER think that you (or anyone else) is "wasting my time" in the Forum. I enjoy trying to win games that are giving other people trouble. Sometimes they can be quite easy, and sometimes they can be very difficult. Most of the games you post give me a lot of trouble. Those are the ones that I like best.
As for the "tea", that is just me tormenting Ken. His games are usually more difficult than I tell him they are. It is just a bit of fun. He does the same to me.
Looking forward to your next problem games and hope that Trisha or I can help.

Hi Richard,

got your 6 the first time i tried again. In STH #99 i got stock with my minds. I see only my ways, so there is no place for the one tricky move. I know, when i at see and find it, i am angry about myself, but what to do.
Have you a picture of your solution with a score of 10?
I still hope i get it, before i see it, but i dont know, if i have time to try it once more.

P.s.: How did you do it in this time? Thats frustrating.

I hope, i could explain, what i have in mind.

With the time: of course, sometimes it is good, sometimes it is bad, but when you think about a special game and another do it in just 3,5 minutes, ....

Just for information. I don`t play just ST or STH. At time i am trying all 101 games from the Mac Edition. Unfortunately are there till now just a few really interesting ones. And when i have just a few minutes, than i play mostly ST, because it normally did not take much time.

P.s.: And i am waiting for more games, but Thomas Warfield told me, that it will take years, till there are for Mac also 725 games. :-(

It is a pity that you do not have all of the games that are in the original P.G.S. version Markus. There are some great games amongst them and we all have our favourites. There is something there for everyone no matter how much expertise they have. I am certain that Thomas and Gregg are spending a lot of time working on expanding the 101 collection. Surely the main problem is your choice of computer. Christmas is coming. Perhaps you should treat yourself.

How many experiences do you have with Mac. I know only one person who changed the system from Mac to Bill Gates.
Most times i am playing at home and an ordinary PC is not in mind, espacially when i think about my last christmas present: my actual iMac. :-)

But there is hope. I am teacher and i am doing the timetable for our school. Because of that i have a notebook from Fujitsu Siemens. I thaugt about investing another 25 $ for the full version. BUT: i use my notebook only to do the timetable. So, ...

We will see. I have the trial on my notebook (still 3 days). Maybe you can tell me some of your favorites, so that i can try and maybe you convinced me to waiste the money. ;-)

I have no experience with Mac at all. I have only ever had Windows. What I hate about Mr.Gates & Co. is that no sooner have you bought one version of Windows than they have brought out another "better" one. No wonder the man is stinking rich. They sell you something and then spend all their time trying to make it obsolete as quickly as they can. They should be running the banks then perhaps the world would not have got itself into the mess it is in.
You should take the notebook home from school and download the P.G.S. Trial Version into it. Then you can have a sneaky game or two at school too.
I like most of the games, but there is a group called "Forty Thieves" which contains many games I particularly like. I have played all the PGS games and have won 720 of them, leaving 5 un-won.

That's Bill Gates. When i count all the time i have to waiste in school to get clear of the problems PC`s and i would get money for that, then i would have 10 Macs at home.
But at home, there aren't a lot problems.
I have the trial one in school also, but i don't find much time, to play meanwhile.
I have to contact Thomas, maybe it is possible, that i can play on several PC`s with the same name and only one statistics (but i don't think so).

By the way: which one you still haven't won?

British canister,Forwards and Backwards,Kings and Aces, Queens and Jacks, and Robert are generally regarded as being un-won. Some people have posted stats saying that they have won them, but almost everyone believes that they are telling lies. Nobody has ever posted a solution for any of these games. Until that time I will continue to believe that the stas that have been posted are false.

OK, not quite speechless. I have been over and over and over this game and I cannot see how it is possible to win it. I KNOW that there are two glitches in it and even if I try to exploit them I cannot get much further. Perhaps there is a further glitch that I've not seen, or a legal move I've overlooked, but if that is the case I take my hat off to you Mike. Did you save the game prior to finishing it?

The game is impossible to win LEGALLY Markus. There are faults in the program. If you exploit these it is possible to "win" the game. Gregg will fix them for the next update. The stats should really be restarted then.

There are several faults. Some cards can be played in ascending order when the rules state they must be in descending order. Other illegal moves are possible. If you mess around you can get cards from the stock to go into empty cells. The stats for ALL the Eagle Wings must therefore be very suspect.

Richard is too smart. He caught the flaw in the game. I guess we should tell Gregg and Thomas. But maybe it would be more fun to let them find it themselves. :-)
I will have to look at the scores to see if anyone else has used the flaw. (I would never use the word CHEAT)
Come to think of it I didn't read the rules. Maybe it is suppose to work that way.

I thougt in that direction. It seems, that in Mac Version, those kinds of moves are not possible, because i tried, not to cheet, but just to know, which moves are legal.
Knowing that, the stats are really worthless.

Hi Paul. If it is possible to win unwinnable games because illegal moves can be made then the stats are meaningless. People who know of this have a clear advantage over those who don't. The whole idea of Climb Mode was to try to get everyone playing on a level playing field. Clearly this is not the case. I am the last person who would dispute your sats. You are someone of integrity and worthy of our respect.

The only time these faults would make a difference is when a game is not winnable when played within the rules. Under normal circumstances this would be the only time when it would become obvious to anyone else. Whether we do so deliberately or accidentally we are "cheating" because we are not obeying the rules. If I found out that there were faults in a game program and deliberately used them to my advantage time after time, I would be a cheat. To win an unwinnable game purely by accident and not even to know you had done so would not make anyone a cheat in my opinion.
Time to move on.

#96 and #103 were recorded as losses in my stats. I don't know if I hit New Game by accident or not. I replayed them with the following results.

I also have four games with scores of between 21 and 34 minutes. I pay no attention to the clock and I've probably gone and made tea or answered the phone or the door. Who cares? This is supposed to be a game. I see no point in adding any unnecessary stress to my life.

Instead of keeping complaining you should consider taking Ken Millar's advice and doing something constructive about what you (singular?) keep grousing about. I can think of no-one else who has any issues with it. Everyone else appears to think that this forum is brilliant and that it is just a bit of fun. Lighten up!

The majority of the posts in this tread have been PGS or 101 related. Sure we throw in a few extra jabs and taunts now and then. But of all the forums I participate in that is going to happen. Most of us have no problem. It will go on. And on. And on.
