And they heard him exclaim as he drove out of sight, "Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night"! So, what constitutes a good night for you? For me, it's getting a game that Richard can't get.

There are a few games that brass me off. Black Hole, Frog and Picture Patience are at the top of the heap. They have all been removed from my "Not Won" folder, Picture Patience courtesy of yourself. With these war of attrition games, one win is plenty as far as I'm concerned. I don't suppose you're trying to win a secend Picture Patience are you Ken (B)? If you are, perhaps I could unearth a gif file with a skeleton seated at the computer. It may be the death of you. I, on the other hand am likely to eat myself to death before the day is out. Why did we have so much food prepared? Has the chef taken leave of his senses? Should he be dismissed? Please. PLEASE! PRETTY PLEASE!

Ha! I'd be glad to see the back of it too. BTW Egil from Norway won Picture Patience way back in 2006.....twice.....and he only played it 52 times. What kept you? Where did you go wrong?
I decided I was going to win Forwards & Backwards and played it 30,000 times. Tom from Scotland managed an 81% win rate, so I gave it up. It was no fun anyway.

Mission Impossible?.... Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to have a win rate in Josephine Climb Mode that exceeds 40%. At least it won't bore the socks off you.

It's approaching fast my friends.
The following poem arrived in my emails today. No further comment by me is necessary.

T'WAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS, HE LIVED ALL ALONE,

IN A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE, MADE OF PLASTER AND STONE.

I HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY, WITH PRESENTS TO GIVE,

AND TO SEE JUST WHO, IN THIS HOME, DID LIVE.

I LOOKED ALL ABOUT, A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE,

NO TINSEL, NO PRESENTS, NOT EVEN A TREE.

NO STOCKING BY MANTLE, JUST BOOTS FILLED WITH SAND,

ON THE WALL HUNG PICTURES, OF FAR DISTANT LANDS.

WITH MEDALS AND BADGES, AWARDS OF ALL KINDS,

A SOBER THOUGHT, CAME THROUGH MY MIND.

FOR THIS HOUSE WAS DIFFERENT, IT WAS DARK AND DREARY,

I FOUND THE HOME OF A SOLDIER, ONCE I COULD SEE CLEARLY.

THE SOLDIER LAY SLEEPING, SILENT, ALONE,

CURLED UP ON THE FLOOR, IN THIS ONE BEDROOM HOME.

THE FACE WAS SO GENTLE, THE ROOM IN DISORDER,

NOT HOW I PICTURED, A TRUE BRITISH SOLDIER.

WAS THIS THE HERO, OF WHOM I'D JUST READ?

CURLED UP ON A PONCHO, THE FLOOR FOR A BED?

I REALISED THE FAMILIES, THAT I SAW THIS NIGHT,

OWED THEIR LIVES TO THESE SOLDIERS, WHO WERE WILLING TO FIGHT.

SOON ROUND THE WORLD, THE CHILDREN WOULD PLAY,

AND GROWNUPS WOULD CELEBRATE, A BRIGHT CHRISTMAS DAY.

THEY ALL ENJOYED FREEDOM, EACH MONTH OF THE YEAR,

BECAUSE OF THE SOLDIERS, LIKE THE ONE LYING HERE.

I COULDN'T HELP WONDER, HOW MANY LAY ALONE,

ON A COLD CHRISTMAS EVE, IN A LAND FAR FROM HOME.

THE VERY THOUGHT BROUGHT, A TEAR TO MY EYE,

I DROPPED TO MY KNEES, AND STARTED TO CRY.

THE SOLDIER AWAKENED, AND I HEARD A ROUGH VOICE,

"SANTA DON'T CRY, THIS LIFE IS MY CHOICE;

I FIGHT FOR FREEDOM, I DON'T ASK FOR MORE,

MY LIFE IS MY GOD, MY COUNTRY, MY CORPS.."

THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER AND DRIFTED TO SLEEP,

I COULDN'T CONTROL IT, I CONTINUED TO WEEP.

I KEPT WATCH FOR HOURS, SO SILENT AND STILL,

AND WE BOTH SHIVERED, FROM THE COLD NIGHT'S CHILL.

I DID NOT WANT TO LEAVE, ON THAT COLD, DARK, NIGHT,

THIS GUARDIAN OF HONOUR, SO WILLING TO FIGHT.

THEN THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER, WITH A VOICE SOFT AND PURE,

WHISPERED, "CARRY ON SANTA, IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY, ALL IS SECURE."

ONE LOOK AT MY WATCH, AND I KNEW HE WAS RIGHT.

"MERRY CHRISTMAS MY FRIEND, AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT."

This poem was written by a Peacekeeping soldier stationed overseas. The following is his request. I think it is reasonable

PLEASE. Would you do me the kind favour of sending this to as many people as you can? Christmas will be coming soon and some credit is due to all of the service men and women for our being able to celebrate these festivities. Let's try in this small way to pay a tiny bit of what we owe. Make people stop and think of our heroes, living and dead, who sacrificed themselves for us. Please, do your small part to plant this small seed.

Yes, Richard does post to the forum Mike. In truth he posts far too often. He should shut up occasionally. This is unlikely to change for a while. Our snow is back with avengence. Some forecasters are predicting the worst blizzards for 100 years. Scaremongers. I'll just ignore them and wait and see what actually happens. We have plenty of food etc so we have nothing to worry about.
Kathy, I was a bit too quick in making my comment. I should just have let it pass. You are spending a considerable amount of your day alone, so you have too much time to mull everything over. I did like the video that you wanted us to see. It must have taken a lot of time to put it all together.

Thanks, Richard. I'm just having a terrible time right now with my vision getting worse every day, and my health is starting to get worse now at the same time. Also, I'm getting no support from my family. When we just had our blizzard, no one cared enough to call me to see if I was okay until my sister called the third day just to say she wasn't going to work that day. So excuse me. You know how emotional I get. Sometimes, I feel as if you guys on the forum are like a family to me, and I guess I just needed some support.

Kathy, None of us are perfect, and we each have our own insecurities. Being on your own magnifies things out of all proportion at times. It's comforting to know that you have someone else at home with you. You don't have that luxury. It's far from ideal. I don't envy you.
Our snow is now hurtling down the street horizontally (honestly!), driven by a very strong wind coming directly south from the Arctic. I feel sorrry for my local publican. Most of us won't be going out unless it's absolutely necessary. He can always drown his sorrows.

I just realized that there's not much difference between the word publican and Republican. Do you think there's any connection, or is it just a coincidence? BTW, I'm a Republican but I don't drink. I don't know if that makes any difference or not, but it is interesting. Do you think there is any merit to this, or am I just being plain stupid? Or is there that much of a difference between the Queen's English and American English? I'd better go to bed. I getting confused!

Perhaps a lot of them are lawyers. Don't they study at the bar. I've also heard a court described as "a bar of public opinion". Maybe they are just a load of drunks. That would explain a lot of the decisions they make.
