But enough is enough. I was on the phone for two hours while I troubleshot what I new was the problem from the beginning. But it is under warranty so you have to play the game. Today was Michaels 19th birthday. So that at least made it fun.

Main computer back up and running. Dell sent out a new video card and IT WORKS! Even after I did the install. I wonder if I forgot to do something.

In brief...the back up team got your back up but you are now back up and running. Welcome back.

On a serious note.....Since I downloaded Google Chrome my anti-spyware has had quite a lot to do. If you download it I suggest that you hit the tools at the top right of the page, select "options" and change the settings to what you prefer. In particular, allowing "all cookies" is a big no no.

You don't need Chrome unless they your current browser becomes obsolete.
Our temperate is around 50 I think, but we are still getting ground frosts at night. Some of the trees in our garden are in partial leaf whilst others are barely out of bud. (Make sure you're never out of Bud).

"Other Mike" couldn't help wondering ... Did either of you get the same reaction to the topic title I did, that it recalls the old gag about getting down off an elephant?

Nothing worse than a fuzzy computer, that's for sure.

Richard. I don't know what the problem may be. I will have to look and see. I am getting plenty of spam. It gets filtered of course. And your name isn't there YET.

As for elephants. We haven't had one around here since we got the Doberman.

The Doberman is not a well known elephant predator Mike. Do the elephants choke on them perhaps? Try feeding them some of the spam.

Hi Mike, No word back from you, and no "returned" message either. I was surpised that I'd not had a response to an important email I'd sent someone else. I had a look at the "Sent items" folder and noticed this. There are blanks against messages that don't appear to have been received by people. Is the fault at my end? Does anyone have any ideas on this one?

Hi
whenever i get email problems i send an email to myself and then another of my emails so I have for instance hotmail, googlemail and blueyonder
so if blueyonder does not have any emails I send an email from blueyonder to its own email address one to hotmail and googlemail and from both hotmail and goolemail to blueyonder and see what does or does not arrive.
then I go to my service providers web site and report a problem.
hope this helps

paul

Thanks Paul, that would have been a good idea previously. Can't remember if it was Norton 360 or Vista that wouldn't let me run more than one email address. Norton came with the new PC and one of them flatly refused. I couldn't find a way round it at the time. Maybe I'll try again.

Remember your ambition to get another hole-in-one before you croak Mike? ........ IT'S POSSIBLE!

I know it's important to line up your putt Mike, but crouching like that is gonna play havoc with your knees.

That's why I don't crouch. Right now I doubt I could get within ten feet (or meters), of that large pit from anywhere. More about that in an email.

Mike, did you see Aberdeen's Paul Lawrie getting a hole in one at the Irish Open today?
Ken, the Scottish guy who smashed the round the world cycle record by 80 days is to cycle from Alaska via the Rockies and the Andes to the tip of South America. Just 15,000 miles this time. You could keep him company for a few hours at the very least. Ta for the 8eer-bottle orchestra video. Excellent.

I saw a little of the Irish Open. But I missed the hole-in-one. On our new tv Ireland looks really great. I wish I was there or Scotland. How long did it take the cyclist to peddle across the Atlantic and Pacific oceans?

"Round the world" races tend to miss out the oceans so the title is a bit inaccurate. Nothing like as inaccurate as your World Series though. That's in a league of its own. Incidentally the guy was also considering rowing the Atlantic. Not on a bike though. I just thought I'd clear that up.

There are players from all over the world on teams in the World Series. Not sure how many Scots are playing major league base-ball. But some have relatives from Scotland. So in my mind it is a WORLD SERIES. Of course I also think that Gummy Bears are made from real Bears.

The English Premiership League has more foreign nationals that anything else. The same is true of major Spanish,French and Italian leagues. They are all just national leagues though. I suppose what you're saying is that if all the players in your World Series were Mexicans, then they'd change its name.
