Gregg, CONGRATS on your MSU Spartans getting to the Final Four! (Did you have any money down?)

>Gregg, CONGRATS on your MSU Spartans getting to the Final Four!

I am quite excited about MSU being in the Final Four (as are many people around here).

The local team will be playing in the Final Four within our state, yet I will be traveling elsewhere...

>(Did you have any money down?)

Nah... I barely had time to watch all of the MSU b-ball games. It is unfortunate that the women only made it to the Sweet 16; they deserved much more (but the officiating disagreed, I guess).

Of the eight #1 seeds in the 2009 NCAA tournaments, only three have lost so far, and MSU teams took out two of them. :-)

>I know they'll represent the Big 10 well!

I sure hope so!

Re your earache....."You always hurt the one you love" or some twaddle like that.
You can turn Climb Mode off in each GAME before you click on its logo to open it. You can't turn it off half way through a game #, (if that's what you meant).

Here's hoping for the Spartans to remain undefeated until they welcome the Hawkeyes (and beyond). The commentators have already identified that game as the last real challenge for MSU (but both teams still have some serious games for the next couple of weeks).

You can make fun of Base/ball all you want, but other people besides myself enjoy it. Just ask the Chicago Cubs fans. In my opinion, it takes a lot more skill to play base/ball than other sports. There's nothing like watching someone pitch a no-hitter. To each his own, I guess.

Every year is a new year; this one belongs to MSU. :-) Good luck in Ann Arbor (though the scoreboard appears to favor the skunk bears for the moment).

>(BTW, do you and Thomas have a side bet on today's game? Isn't he an Illini fan?)

No. Thomas is an Illinois fan, but he is a smart guy, so he probably does not invest much in their football program. :-) (Honestly, I know he likes baseball and follows Illini basketball, and is not a soccer fan, but I do not remember any mention of football at all.)

Well, it was some game! But the Hawkeyes' 38 is pretty cool, too.

My Auburn husband got his MA from Iowa. We lived in Married Sudent Housing - Stadium Park. (Bet they have built something else there now.) We could walk out our front door, and right into the stadium. We were also by the field where the Scottish Highlanders practiced frequently. Still have a fondness for "My Bonnie Lassie" on bagpipes and drums. I liked Iowa City a lot, too.

Gregg, only TWO days to the BIGGEST game of the year for both our teams. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!

Jeff Kanan of Michigan State’s student newspaper, the State News, looks at four matchups we’ll see Saturday at Kinnick and says two favor MSU and two favor Iowa.

Kanan likes MSU’s passing attack vs. Iowa’s secondary and the Spartans’ front seven against Iowa’s offensive line. But he favors the Hawkeyes’ front seven against MSU’s O-line and Hawkeye quarterback Ricky Stanzi vs. the Spartans’ secondary. He writes:

MSU, which ranks second in the conference in pass efficiency defense, will benefit if it can force turnovers as it did in wins against U-M and Illinois, when it had three interceptions apiece, but will need its best performance against a good passing attack.

In an intentionally silly piece, Tom Panzenhagen of the Detroit Free Press has his own MSU-Iowa tale of the tape. An example:

ALUMNI

Iowa alumni include Gene Wilder and Tennessee Williams

Michigan State alumni include Chad Everett and Magic Johnson

Edge: Iowa
